Jon Turner QC

Jon Turner QC is a barrister at Monckton Chambers.

Jon Turner QC has been a key figure in the development of competition law jurisprudence in our courts and the Competition Appeal Tribunal for two decades.  He was the Standing Counsel to the Office of Fair Trading for almost a decade from 1997, when the main regime was the domestic Restrictive Trade Practices Act, until 2006, when the Competition Act regime based on EU competition law had taken root for a number of years.

On behalf of the State, he litigated many of the major competition trials, ranging from the Net Book Agreement case and Over-the-Counter Medicines under the pure UK regime, to a number of the main cartel and abuse of dominance battles under the EU-based regime.  Since 2006, he has been in silk acting both for and against the competition authority, and in myriad private actions, in cases both in the UK and in Luxembourg.
